Creativity at all scales

Our design approach regardless of scale or strategic influence, is underpinned by creativity and rigour in equal measure.

We believe that design is more than just aesthetic quality. It defines a rigorous process of conceptualisation, analysis, ideas generation, testing, refinement, and realisation.

Our solutions are grounded in the realities of place, time, people and the practical application of creative thought. Some recent relevant projects include:

Kingston Open Space Strategy, 2023

Through deep consideration of the growth of this local community, this Open Space Strategy consolidated prior Council mapping, assessment and open space planning outcomes provided the opportunity to provide a ten year strategy for Council. Working closely with Community Consultation feedback, the Open Space Strategy considered options for public realm interventions, community well being, active transport, walkable neighbourhood goals and a new recycled water pipeline scheme to both save wasted water and provide a cost-effective water source for green spaces.

University of Queensland Gatton Campus Heart, 2019–2020

We developed and implemented a design for the University of Queensland Gatton Campus arrival precinct and central spine with a vision to strengthen the connections between the historic and contemporary fabric; enhance the sense of arrival to the campus and create an activated and enhanced heart. The campus has grown to be a key part of the UQ legacy and continues to grow, providing critical research and education in the environmental and animal husbandry fields.

The Link, Milton Green, 2015–2018

AMP Capital approached LatStudios to develop a public realm master plan for the Milton Green precinct. The key driver for this work was a recognition that the office park was dating badly and needed significant investment to retain existing and attract new tenants in an increasingly competitive commercial office space market within Brisbane. LatStudios design for the new ‘Link’ introduces a dramatic, adaptable and inviting connection between surrounding office buildings at AMP’s Milton Green in Brisbane. The reinvigorated connection encourages the surrounding community to linger, take a break or enjoy the delights of the pop-up food stalls. Embedded within the project are a range of differing human scale experiences, encouraging groups or individuals to come outdoors and enjoy the space – for business or pleasure.
