Good Design Award for Thornton

Congratulations to the project team on their 2024 Australian Good Design Award win for Thornton.

Congratulations to bureau^proberts, JGL Properties and the project team on their 2024 Australian Good Design Award win in the Architectural Design category for Thornton, residential tower in Kangaroo Point, Brisbane.

We are proud to have collaborated on this innovative project to “show what’s possible for the future of subtropical urban living – particularly in Brisbane. We wanted to create a building of enduring quality and value and drew on the contributions that some public buildings and galleries make to the cityscape.” (bureau^proberts Managing and Creative Director Liam Proberts)

The landscape architectural response was informed by the immediate context and connection to the river and adjacent linear parkland. The landscape extends from this context to create a green threaded and layered journey connecting all experiences for the residents from lobby, through communal landscapes and directly into individual homes.
