Gateway Upgrade North, Brisbane
Project Details
The Gateway Upgrade North delivers increased capacity through additional lanes in both directions and refinement of road geometries to facilitate increased speed limits.
The design vision informed landscape revegetation and urban design initiatives that maximised integration with its setting while also enhancing the broader infrastructure and environmental project goals. These design objectives created a 'naturalistic setting' that complements existing valued environments with punctuations of meaningful architectural and sculptural enhancements to key nodes. Simple flowing arrangements are key to realising landscapes that will be easily maintained and serviced.
An emphasis was also been placed on achieving a high quality shared user path that connects and strengthens Brisbane's north eastern network at both regional and local scales.
The urban design strategies for the project were strongly influenced by the existing brand created by the Gateway Upgrade Project (GUP) to the south and Gateway Additional Laneway (GAL) within site boundary. Proven materials, finishes and profiles have been translated to the local context of which elements occur and against the rhythm of intensity at a regional setting.
