Project Details
The Quarry is a 48.7 hectare site located on the north-west side of Enoggera Hill, north of Brisbane with views towards picturesque Samford Valley.

Working with our clients, Frasers Property, this unique elevated site turned a former granite quarry into a dynamic residential neighbourhood, featuring a recreation centre with large communal recreation spaces, elevated lookouts, cliff-top elevated walkway and linear parks along quarry benching.

The site features numerous shared and shaded spaces for residents and the wider community, with vistas framed by trees with the village green becoming a welcoming destination for the community.

These spaces were designed with community health and wellness in mind, guided by these design strategies:

  • Deploy relaxed spatial geometry
  • Ensure an appealing abundance of green
  • Remove sources of daily stresses
  • Deploy the principles of Healing Gardens
  • Maximise (calm inducing) experiences

In moving out of its extractive lifecycle, the incredibly unique landforms of dramatic cliff faces, rocky outcrops and landscape benching will remain in the former quarry's return to nature. The forest from the tops of the Enoggera Hill is draped and woven down through the new urban form, and pockets of nature will become natural draw cards to residents and fauna as the site experiences a process of revegetation.
