Project Details

The Urban Forest project looks to deliver an exemplar model for urban living by focusing on the many personal and societal benefits of being closely connected with nature. We worked closely with Arno King Landscape Architects & Koichi Takada Architects for Aria Property Group on this development application.

The project has three key objectives:‍

• ‍Deliver the greenest residential building in the world: By maximising green site coverage to 292% on the site footprint, using over 250 different species to maximise site biodiversity and planting over 1000 trees (more than any other single residential building on the planet).
• ‍Create an environmental showcase for green building in Brisbane: Pushing the boundaries of ecologically infused buildings as an exemplar for urban living to enhance subtropical character, attracting local wildlife, sequestering CO2 and produce oxygen, naturally filtering rainwater, filter pollutants from air, promote biophilia and enhance wellbeing and provide interactional education.
• ‍Connect river to park along a new green spine: The site is along the Glenelg Street Master Plan (by LatStudios) to enhance connectivity in South Brisbane, creating public places to make the most of our enviable climate and natural environment by planting large trees and lush gardens along Glenelg, creating a new public park at the building site that contributes to the locality with new activities and experiences and providing a place to recharge away from the fast paced city environment.
