Yarrabilba Master Planned Community
Project Details
On completion in 2041, Lendlease's Yarrabilba Master Planned Community will have around 17,000 homes and be home to a population of 45,000 people. LatStudios provided integrated landscape design services for the initial stages which have now been built and are attracting large visitor numbers. Our focus included several key components - the arrival experience, the village streetscapes and entries, the central park and linear and village parks.
The landscape strategy focused on the site's natural landscape qualities and existing vegetation to establish an authentic community character. A series of place-responsive design principals, supported by a palette of site responsive materials, informed design outcomes - from the arrival experience through to streetscapes - and set the quality and tone for the whole community.
The central park, and its interconnected network of linear and local and parks, established a structuring feature of the landscape master plan. This park is a focus for the new community and affords opportunities for active and passive recreation including markets, events and play. Working collaboratively with Aspect Studio, play and water play elements were also integrated into this space to deliver exceptionally high levels of local amenity.
The landscape design approach embedded sustainable design principles including the integration and rehabilitation of large areas of existing woodland, wetlands and bio-retention, and a focus on encouraging healthy and active lifestyles for residents. It is already apparent that the investment in a diverse native palette of hundreds of new trees will set this project apart and benefit the future community in years to come.
